Sometimes going to a skincare counter can be quite daunting. Skin can be a tough subject – every one has their insecurities and sometimes it doesn’t feel natural to discuss those with a stranger.
Out of all of the skincare counters in the UK high street, I find Clinique to be one of the most approachable. They’ve always been helpful and willing to share their knowledge without being patronising or pushy with the sales.
I’ve tried a lot of Clinique products, but never had I had a full consultation with one of their advisors. So when Sarah from Clinique Debenhams Birmingham messaged me, asking if I wanted to come to the counter to experience a consultation for myself, I was all for it.
As you’d expect a skin consultation consists of talking about your skin and learning about the products that Clinique do that are suitable for you and your skin concerns. However, these were the best 5 things about my skin consultation with Clinique.
You Don’t Have To Take Your Makeup Off You Don’t Feel Comfortable
I asked Sarah if it was best for me to arrive bare faced (the logical option) or in my makeup (the comfortable, safety blanket option). She said we can work with either and I can do whatever made me feel most comfortable.
So I showed up with a full face and she demonstrated the products on my hand. In fact, I liked this, as I was able to feel a difference between the hand that had been pampered and the ‘before’, unpampered hand.
I think this is fantastic for people who are insecure with their skin and are nervous about having a skin consultation. As I’m sure having to go bare-faced in the busy, city centre, department store is a big thing for most people, especially for people who have skin concerns that they are trying to reduce.
They Tailor Their Skincare – No One Size Fits All
Clinique ask all the right questions, making sure they fully understand your skin before they recommend any products. They are aware that not everyone’s skin is the same and that different types of skin react in different ways. They have such a wide variety of different products, so they really do tailor it.
The great thing about this is that you’ll go away knowing what will be best for you and not just recommended anything for a quick sale.
They’ve Been Cleansing, Exfoliating and Moisturising for 50 Years
Clinique started with their 3-Step System, which is a fancy name for a good Cleanse, Exfoliate and Moisturise. They championed a solid skincare regime in a time when people really didn’t have one at all.
Knowing this, really made me feel like I was in good hands with a dermatology based company.
They Also Do Great Makeup
You’d probably assume skincare when talking about Clinique, but they do also have a really good range of Makeup as well.
Sarah asked me about what I normally go for in a foundation and colour matched me for their Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer, because I prefer a full coverage. She gave a sample to take away so I could really try it for myself to see if it works for me.
I’m also a big fan of their Chubby Lash Mascara and Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balms.
